My how the world has changed in the last week. On Tuesday night my husband told me he wanted to keep Fox out of school. I thought he was being an alarmist. We finally agreed that we’d pull him out on Monday the 16th so I could make arrangements with my clients. Within a few hours on Wednesday (3/11/20) afternoon, it seemed everything was blowing up: The NBA was off, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson had the disease and it was officially pronounced a pandemic by the WHO. But seriously, Tom having it was the most concerning!

By Thursday I had told most of my clients I would no longer be at the gym and while I still planned to finish out the week, by Friday morning I had decided I was done. For now, and for at least the foreseeable future (I hate saying for two or three weeks because this could stretch into the 6-8 week time frame) I will not being doing any 1-1 personal training. I do not think the gym is where any of us need to be.

Let’s be real: Gyms are filthy places to start with, even if they hold themselves to higher cleaning standards. However, with what’s going on, I’m doing the whole “social distancing” thing. If you choose to go to the gym, please be cognizant of ALL the things you touch while there: doors, weights, collars, pins in the machines, the floor, a bench, supportive poles, etc.

That being said, I’ve created a new and improved Home Workout list for people who would also like to do their part and stay away from the gym for a bit. This list includes bodyweight workouts, cardio workouts and hand weight/banded workouts. If you do not have simple equipment at home and would like to pick some up for a reasonable price, I recommend the bands below, because bands are the most versatile and don’t take up a lot of space.

If you would like to access the workouts, go to http://bit.ly/HomeSweatSession to view and print it.  I will also be starting online coaching for those who’d like something a bit more tailored to their goals and body mechanics. This can be something where I write a personalized program for you or something more like traditional personal training, but based over the computer, through FaceTime or a similar app. Please reach out if you’re interested in finding out more.
